Constitution & Bylaws

ARTICLE I
Name   Rawalpindi Medical College Alumni Association of North America (RMCAANA).
ARTICLE II
Objectives To promote social and professional interaction amongst  RMC graduates in North America. To help promote medical education in Pakistan and RMC. To help aspiring and promising graduates of RMC to attain post graduate training in the USA. This is a totally autonomous, non political and non profit organization.
ARTICLE III
Membership RMC graduates residing in the North America are eligible for membership.
a. Active Members: Those members who will regularly subscribe to the annual dues of the association and participate in the promotion of the association and its activities. Only active members will be eligible to vote.
b. Associate Members: RMC graduates who were previous active members and all other RMC graduates in North America.
c. Honorary Members: All professors and faculty of RMC and RMC graduates residing outside of North America.
ARTICLE IV
Officers

a. President
b. President Elect
c. Secretary
d. Treasurer
e. Councilors for four regions
    1. Canada
    2. Eastern States
    3. Midwestern States
    4. Southern States
All officers will be elected yearly. No officer will hold the same office for more than two years

ARTICLE V
Council The council will comprise of the current officers and past three Presidents of the Association. All matters relating to the association i.e., finance, annual meetings, CME programs, donations to the college and publications will be governed by the council.
ARTICLE VI
Elections Elections will be conducted by a secret ballot by mail. A minimum of three nominations for each candidate will be required and submitted at least one month in advance of elections. The winner will be decided by simple majority.
ARTICLE VII
Amendments

The constitution may be amended by a two-third majority vote of the active members at any annual meeting. Members must be informed of the proposed change at least thirty days prior to the voting.

ARTICLE VIII
Dissolution Upon the dissolution of the association, Council will, after paying or making provision of the payment of all liabilities of the association in such manner, or to such organization or organizations organized and operated exclusively by charitable, educational, religious or scientific purposes as shall at the time qualify as an exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code of 1954 (or of corresponding provision of any future US Internal Revenue law), as the council shall determine. Any such assets not disposed off shall be disposed off by the court of common pleas of the county in which the principal office of the association is then located, exclusively for such purposes or to such organization or organizations, as said court shall determine, which are organized and operated exclusively for such purpose.
